DIY- How to crochet a cute baby hat?

Babies are adorable, and they are also a good excuse to make a beautiful crochet project.

The best thing about this pattern is it versatility; depending on the yarn you're using, and the hook, you can make a perfect hat for the cold seasons, like winter and fall, or for more warm seasons, like spring or summer.

DIY- How to do your own decorative vases: Inexpensive and beautiful

One of my friends is getting married at the end of November, and since she and her fiance are college students, the had to be creative with the wedding budget. The used a venue on campus, that's free for students, some of their friends offer to pay and do the catering by themselves, the bride's cousin offer to pay the cake, and her dress was on sell!, everything was going perfect...except for the decoration.

We thought about something simple, but elegant. The good thing about simple decoration is that it could be elegant, but at the same time completely inexpensive. So we decided to do beautiful decorative vases ourselves.

MATERIALS:

Glass vase.
Glitter.
Regular white glue.
Brush or a sponge
Old newspapers
Any type of tape.
Any type of candle (optional). You can use instead LED tea-light candles (some venues doesn't allow real candles).

We are going to use LED candles, because our venue doesn't allow real candles
We are going to use LED candles, because our venue doesn't allow real candles.

STEP 1
Use the tape to create a line that will delimit how is the glitter going to be set up in the vase. Use the tape to create different designs.

STEP 2
Use the brush, or the sponge, to spread the glue on the vase. You can pour some glue on a bowl before.

STEP 3
Now is time to use the glitter!!! Right after you spread the glue on the vase, you're using the glitter. We strongly recommend you to use glitters with light colors.

While you`re sprinkling the glitter in the vase, do it on top of a newspaper, you could save glitter, and time when cleaning up.

STEP 4
Let it dry for at least an hour. You'll notice that the white color of the glue starts fading. You can use this time to clean up a little. (We used this time to chat).

STEP 5
Now the best part!. After the glue is completely dry, remove the tape, and you're done!. You can add the candle or just leave it without it.

And voila!

Cute, inexpensive, and versatile; you can use then for decorate your house, or just for a romantic dinner at home. Please post your questions on the comment section.

DIY- Don't know what to do with a boring window? let is snow!!!

Winter has finally come, with a lot of beautiful but cold snow. No more cardigans and light fabric scarfs, no more converse and ballerina shoes; it's time for winter coats, snow boots, gloves, heavy fabric scarfs and hats.

During winter there's hardly sunlight here in Logan, which is one of the coldest cities in Utah. That's shame because landscapes here are beautiful. I looked at my window and I realize "what a boring window". I had no decoration that I could use to ignore the fact that outside was pretty dark... and it was only 5PM.

So I decided to to paper snowflakes to decorate my dorm window. They're delicate, easy to make, and the most important part not expensive at all.

Here's the video tutorial, I hope you enjoy it.

A new begining

First of all welcome to my new-old blog! and to my new post in a long time. A lot of things had happen to me in this last year; I'm currently living in Utah thanks to a wonderful scholarship, that gave me the opportunity to go back to school after dropped of college almost four years ago. I saw in this opportunity as the new beginning I needed so much.

Talking about my blog, as you can see on previous posts, they were in my native language; Spanish. Why changing to English?

1- I want to be a teacher, and I need to improve my English as much as I can.

2- English is like an "universal language", a lot of people speak English, besides their native language, and I want to share this blog with as many people as possible.

3- I only know how to read crochet patterns that are in English: a couple of years ago a very dearest co-worker taught me the basic crochet stitches, but she did it in English. When I went to learn how to read patterns, they were all in English, an I got so used to them, that I can't just follow the ones on Spanish. That's why my crochet video tutorials are in English. (para las personas que hablan español, lo siento mucho, pero blogger tiene la opción de traducir al idioma que quieras).

Thanks for visiting my blog, and I hope you enjoy it.
